The Westin Syracuse
Onondaga Convention Center Hotel
Syracuse, NY
The Westin Syracuse Hotel will enliven the corner of Harrison and State Streets visually with a glass and metal panel architectural tower feature and functionally with an upscale leased restaurant opening to the corner and facing the Everson Museum of Art. The porte-cochere will face the Onondaga Convention Center providing easy access to and from the convention facilities, both across the street and fully conditioned through the existing pedestrian bridge, into the parking deck and then through a new pedestrian bridge into the hotel. Cars will have easy access from the hotel drive into the adjacent parking structure. Valet parking will be provided at the front entrance.
The lobby-lounge area will be a two story space featuring a large fireplace and water element. A bar, a coffee shop and a hotel restaurant will be connected and merged into this “great room” area. The design focus will be warm and inviting and integrated with Westin’s contemporary design vernacular. Natural light will be provided deep into the building through the use of clerestory skylights. Natural and local finishes will be abundant - both rustic and machined to create an interesting textural and chromatic palette.
The hotel will be 270,000 gross square feet with an 8-story tower housing 365 guest rooms, including 11 suites. A total of 17,000 square feet of meeting space will be provided. The area of the ballroom is 8,500 square feet with an adjacent junior ballroom of 4,900 square feet. The fitness facilities will feature the latest Westin “Workout by Reebok” design, including both an indoor swimming pool and a hot tub/bubble pool. Guest rooms will be Westin designed, featuring the well known Heavenly Bed and Heavenly Bath.
